With South Carolina already dealing with two injuries at wide receiver, there’s one guy I think could suddenly become very important to this offense: DJ Black.

And his story makes him even more interesting.

Black originally walked on at South Carolina before transferring to Limestone, where he exploded for 939 yards and 11 touchdowns in 2024. He then moved to UCF, started 11 games last season, and now he’s back in Columbia for his final year.

This kid has always had ability. At Chapman High School, he once broke Deebo Samuel’s school record with 270 receiving yards in a single game, and he has legitimate track speed.

At 6-2, 205 pounds, he gives LaNorris Sellers another big, athletic target who has already proven he can produce.

Sometimes injuries create opportunities for somebody nobody was talking about in August.

DJ Black might just be that guy for South Carolina.
