We’re only four weeks into the season, but Saturday feels like one of those weekends that could reshape the entire SEC race.

NO. 1 TEXAS AT NO. 14 TENNESSEE

The nation’s top-ranked team walks into a checkered Neyland Stadium for its first real SEC test. Texas has the talent, but Tennessee has the crowd, the pressure and absolutely nothing to lose. If the Longhorns are legitimate national-title material, this is where they prove it.

NO. 4 OLE MISS AT NO. 21 FLORIDA

SEC Forecast: week four

Ole Miss is coming off its statement victory over LSU, while Florida has quietly forced its way back into the rankings. Trinidad Chambliss and the Rebels’ offense now face a physical road test in The Swamp. This feels like the most dangerous potential upset on the board.

OKLAHOMA AT NO. 2 GEORGIA

SEC Forecast: week four

Oklahoma has already stumbled once and hasn’t looked particularly impressive since. Now the Sooners travel to Athens to face a Georgia team that has been rolling over everybody. Oklahoma needs its best performance of the season just to stay in the building.

NO. 23 TEXAS A&M AT NO. 10 LSU

SEC Forecast: week four

This is essentially an early-season elimination game. LSU is trying to recover from its loss at Ole Miss, while Texas A&M is coming off an embarrassing home loss to Kentucky. One team gets its season stabilized. The other leaves Death Valley with serious questions about where the season is headed.

MISSOURI AT NO. 24 MISSISSIPPI STATE

Don’t overlook this one. Both teams enter unbeaten, and Mississippi State quarterback KaMario Taylor is quickly becoming one of the biggest stories in the country. Missouri has an opportunity to prove it belongs in the SEC conversation, while the Bulldogs can validate everything they showed at South Carolina.

SOUTH CAROLINA AT NO. 8 ALABAMA

SEC Forecast: week four

This matchup looked far more intriguing before South Carolina’s ugly performance against Mississippi State. Alabama has shown some vulnerabilities, but the Gamecocks must find an offense, protect LaNorris Sellers and stop the run. Otherwise, this could get away from them quickly.

VANDERBILT AT AUBURN

SEC Forecast: week four

Vanderbilt has already shown it can hang around and make opponents uncomfortable. Auburn is coming off a loss at Florida and cannot afford another setback. This may not carry national-championship implications, but it could become one of Saturday’s more entertaining games.

SOUTH ALABAMA AT KENTUCKY

SEC Forecast: week four

Kentucky is coming off one of the biggest surprises of the young season after walking into College Station and beating Texas A&M. The Wildcats have to avoid the emotional hangover and handle a game they are expected to win.

TULSA AT ARKANSAS

SEC Forecast: week four

Arkansas desperately needs something positive. The Razorbacks have been beaten badly in consecutive weeks, and even a convincing victory over Tulsa won’t erase those problems. But another poor showing would turn the pressure around this program into a full-blown crisis.

This is the kind of Saturday that makes the SEC what it is. By midnight, we should know considerably more about who is a contender, who is merely surviving—and whose season is already beginning to slip away.
