If SEC football teams were commodities and I had money to invest today, I know exactly where I’d put it.
And understand something about the way I’m looking at this: I’m not necessarily buying the team that is ranked the highest today. I’m looking for value. I’m looking at coaching, talent, trajectory and whether I believe that program is worth more in November than it is right now.
📈 STRONG BUY — LSU
My No. 1 stock right now is LSU.
And a big part of that is Lane Kiffin.
I would gamble on Kiffin just about every time. Give that guy LSU’s resources, LSU’s recruiting base and the kind of talent he can attract through the portal, and I’m buying before everybody else figures out what this thing could become.
There may be some volatility early because LSU has a brutal opening stretch, but that doesn’t scare me away from the stock. I’m investing in where I think this program is headed.

📈 STRONG BUY — FLORIDA
My second stock is Florida, and once again I’m buying the coach as much as I’m buying the program.
I’ve been high on Jon Sumrall for a long time.
He won at Troy. He won at Tulane. Now he’s walking into a Florida program that has resources, recruiting territory and enough talent to get good in a hurry.
This is exactly the kind of stock I like — one where I think the market may be a little behind what is about to happen.
I’m buying Florida before the price goes up.

💰 BLUE CHIP BUY — GEORGIA
Georgia is different.
Georgia isn’t the stock you’re hoping suddenly doubles in value. Georgia is the stock you buy because you know what you’re getting.
Kirby Smart has built the most dependable football program in the SEC. Georgia has won three of the last four SEC championships, and until somebody proves otherwise, I see absolutely no reason to believe that machine is slowing down.
There may be stocks with more upside, but there aren’t many I’d trust more.
Georgia is Coca-Cola. It’s Apple. It’s the blue-chip stock sitting in your portfolio that lets you sleep at night.

2. Florida — STRONG BUY
3. Georgia — BUY AND HOLD
LSU and Florida are my growth stocks.
Georgia is my blue chip.
But the fun part of this exercise is what comes next, because there are 13 more SEC stocks on the board.
Some I’m buying.
Some I’m holding.
And there are a couple I’m getting as far away from as I possibly can.
