JB’s Preseason Top 10

Everybody has a preseason poll, and this one is mine. It isn’t based on hype or recruiting rankings. It’s based on who I believe has the best chance to compete for a national championship this season.

My Top 10

  1. Ohio State
  2. Oregon
  3. Georgia
  4. Texas
  5. Notre Dame
  6. Indiana
  7. Texas A&M
  8. Miami
  9. Oklahoma
  10. Ole Miss

Ohio State remains the team to beat until somebody proves otherwise. Oregon, Georgia, and Texas all have the talent to make a championship run, while Notre Dame rounds out my top five.

Indiana at No. 6 may raise some eyebrows, but I think the Hoosiers are for real and are capable of another outstanding season.

Texas A&M has one of the most talented rosters in the country. If they can finally put it all together, they’ll be in the playoff conversation all season. Miami and Oklahoma both have enough talent to make a serious run as well.

I gave Ole Miss the final spot in my Top 10 because I believe Trinidad Chambliss is one of the most dangerous players in college football. A dynamic quarterback can change the fortunes of an entire program, and I think Chambliss is capable of carrying the Rebels into the College Football Playoff conversation if they get consistent play around him.

This is how I see it today. Ask me again in November, and I’m sure there will be a few surprises. That’s why college football remains the greatest sport in America.

Who did I rank too high? Who belongs in my Top 10 that I left out?
